Although the principle goal of Artful Tutoring has always been to make our tutoring services the very best of their kind, we do recognize that some families will have budget constraints, and that an economical option might be very attractive to them. Private Group Tutoring is our answer to the question of trying to maintain our very high standards or quality instruction, while at the same time effecting substantial cost savings.
Additionally, the social aspect of meeting in a group with friends, family, or classmates has some intrinsic value, which is hard to put a number to, but definitely exists.
With our goal being to make these meetings as convenient as possible for both students and their families, we come right to you! For most of our students, the most convenient option is meeting with them right in their homes. Also, because there is more than one student involved, we are very happy to rotate the meeting place between students.
Many libraries will make a small meeting room available for tutoring use, and that is also a viable option. These rooms are often just perfect for a small group of two or three students and a tutor.
Lots of options. We keep hours for our students seven days a week, for starters. On weekdays, we can meet with you either after school or in the evenings. We’re really very flexible about hours. Evening meetings, for example, could start at 6:30 or 7:15 or really, whatever suits you! On weekends, we can meet virtually any time of day: morning, afternoon, or evening.
Over the years, we have found that a two-hour session is the ideal standard. Enough time to get a lot of work done, but not so long as to be tiring. We have tried both longer and shorter sessions, but neither one has proved to meet our high standards.
Because we recognize that in a group of two or three students, each of you will have a different set of needs, we always make ourselves available for 15-minute extra help sessions, which can be conducted either right before the regular starting time, or right afterwards. Extra help sessions are conducted on an as-requested basis, so just let us know if you want to schedule a session.
That’s hard to predict. There are a few different variables involved, such as what your skill level is at the present time, what colleges you are interested in applying to, and how long before your scheduled test date.
With that said, for most students, we will conduct about ten to fifteen sessions. Give us a call and we can discuss your specific situation in detail.
Yes, absolutely. The homework that you do will consist of practice sections of real tests where you get to try out, on your own, what you have learned during your sessions. This is the most important part of the course – even more important than the sessions themselves. You can expect a homework assignment that will take about 2 to 3 hours, each week.
For single students, you can simply pay as you go, paying for each session as we complete it.
Base Fee for Each Two-Hour Session is $250 ($125.00 per hour)
However, if you have a couple of friends, neighbors, or classmates that you would like to study with, that price drops sharply. With one friend joining you:
Base Fee for Each Two-Hour Session is $150 per student
Extra Help Sessions are always no charge!
And, if you have two study partners joining you, the price drops even further:
Base Fee for Each Two-Hour Session is $100 per student
Extra Help Sessions are always no charge!
When putting together a group, it is extremely important that students attending are fairly closely matched in scores, with no more than 100 points separating the lowest scoring student from the highest.
Once again, flexibility and convenience are the keys, for us. We can accept cash, check, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, and if there is another payment method that you have in mind, we can probably take that, too!
With enough notice, you certainly can. It’s very hard for us to adjust our schedules and our students’ schedules on a last minute basis. However, if you see an event on your time horizon that will interfere with tutoring, and you can let us know about it promptly, we can probably rearrange things for you.
Things do come up. We understand this, and we want to try to be considerate of your needs. But also, please be considerate of us, as well.
It’s important to maintain momentum in a program like this, and so meeting regularly is one of the keys to success. If you do find that you need to cancel a lesson, we will work with you to try to reschedule that lesson, so that we can maximum the value you are getting from the program.
